L. 20:30-31 USE AND INTENT OF OUR LORD'S MIRACLES

PolLA men oun kai ALla seMEIa [4592] ePOIe-sen ho IeSOUS eNOpi-on ton ma-theTON,

Many other signs therefore did :Jesus before the disciples,

ha ouk EStin ge-gramMEna en to bibLIo TOUto: TAUta de GEgrap-tai,

which are not written in this :book: 31but these are written,

HIna piSTEUe-te HOti IeSOUS es-tin ho ChrisTOS, ho huiOS tou TheOU;

that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of :God;

kai HIna piSTEUon-tes zo-EN [2222] Eche-te en to oNOma-ti [3686] auTOU.

and that believing you may have life in his :name.

NOTE: And whydid Jesus reveal Himself in His resurrected state firstto a woman? It was notbecause in Christ there is neither male nor female. I believe it was because of the difference between men and women. Women have an intuitive faculty that moves more quickly towards an insight than that of men. Jesus didn't want to have any delay through lack of swift perception, so He chose Mary Magdalene to reveal Himself to first. And true to form, she swiftly and accurately relayed the message He gave her to His brethren!”

That is why is says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 - Twoare better than one - for they shall receive a goodreward for their labor.”And in Deuteronomy 32:20 - “One shall drive 1000 to flight, but two 10,000!”And in Matthew 18:19 - “If twoof you shall agree on earth as touching anythingthey shall ask, it shallbe done for them of my :Father who isin the heavens.” And what better line-up of two can be found outside of the marriage team? Again and again I have sensed the truth of the above in my wife Marie. She often has to wait for me to come up to the answer that she intuitively arrives at. She seems to cut through the red tape of the rational male process. And of course there are exceptions. John the Beloved disciple perceived immediately before Peter that Jesus had risen from the dead, by understanding the significance of the linen cloths in which Jesus had been wrapped, and the head-napkin rolled up and in a place apart. Also in John 21:7, John intuitively knew it was Jesuson the shore, before Peter had figured it out.

Mary Magdalene paid little attention to the two angels in the vacated tomb. It was Jesus' body she was interested in. And - it was the sound of His voice naming her by name - that immediately brought full recognition to her.

Yet Jesus did not allow Mary to touch Him until firstHe had presented Himself victoriously to the Father, as One who had completely and successfully completed the assignment that had been give Him on earth. This was in line following Levitical protocol under the Old Covenant. Jesus always walked in the true spirit of this Covenant. He being Himself - Covenant- also knew the significance of Hebrews 8:6, and that the New Covenant had been constituted Torahon the same level as the Mosaic Covenant. See the NOTEunder John 18:28-40 on Dr. David Stern on Hebrews 8:6 - for deeper insight on the unity of the entireBible as Torah.

Then see John 20:28 - “Thomas answered and said to him, My theLord and my theGod.” The Greek definite article “the” - is most important. Latin does not make use of this part of speech, and the King James Authorized Version followed more closely the Latin Vulgate of Jerome, than the Greek text, and it then is apparent by the use of the definite article here. Note how Thomas uses the article in the above quote. The Jehovah's Witnesses make a great deal of the omission of the definite article in John 1:1 - “In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with :God, and the Word was God.” Note that the definite article does notprecede the second reference to God as it relates to the Word. “See”, say the J. W's. “Jesus the Word is only aGod, not theGod like the Father!” I challenged one of their leaders - “If I could show you a reference to Jesus where He is listed as theGod - would you the acknowledge your error in your teaching?” “Yes”, he said, I would. But you cannot find such a reference.” “Turn to John 20:28,” I challenged him, “and read to me.” Thisfinished him before a group of a score or so.

Jesus is:God - the God, and according to Oswald Chambers - At this time, Heis the God with which we have to do, and the exact manifestation of the Father. When we honor Jesus - we honor the Father! J.A.W.
